a study on an innovative way of traveling and commuting
the intermodal node of lampugnano is a literal gateĀ to the west of milan as a reference point for workers and many travelers from Italy and abroad. the interchange system consists of three main elements: the homonymous station of the metro line 1, the adjoining ATM interchange parking and the bus station
the area is potentially configured as a large infrastructure hub, a transit place for many people daily. the degradation of structures, the lack of planning and the insecurity of spaces are inadequate to the needs of a place with such potential
these places of transit inadvertently coincide more and more with the places of the contemporary in which we spend most of our time, becoming the new public squares of the community
the participation of the neighboring structure, palasharp in the 2026 winter olympics in milan cortina will also offer more possibilities for the entire area. this area will be integrated into the milanese event circuit
the reflections carried out on the interchange of lampugnano find further feedback compared with the directives that the city is taking as regards its growth: the development of the “Milan 2030” that will favor construction in the proximity of intermodal nodes to the aim to reduce the dependence on the means private in favor of the public mobility and low environmental impact
analyzing is the primary elements constituting the node,as part of one entity, is the general approach that allows this masterplan to spread as a greater connection to and from the city. the following diagrams show the evolving mobility on site during 24hrs
it generates a project capable of enhancing relationships with the context and defining new public spaces: a possible new collection point of exchange and permanence for the city of milan
